Q: What does “60% of discharge diameter” mean in practice?
A: For a DN80 (3-inch) pump, it means the pump can reliably pass spherical solids up to 48mm. Fibrous materials like rope or rags are shredded by the cutter, allowing them to pass easily.
Q: Can this pump run dry?
A: While it has a robust sealing system, it is a water-cooled motor. It can run for short periods with the motor partially exposed, but during continuous operation, the water level must cover at least half of the motor housing to ensure adequate cooling.
